On tea drinking

On tea drinking:

The first cup moistens my lips and throat,
The second cup breaks my loneliness,
The third cup searches my barren entrails,
The fourth cup raises a slight perspiration,
The fifth cup purifies me,
The sixth cup calls me to the realms of the immortals,
The seventh cup – Ah, but I can take no more.

"As the years go by, give me but peace ...."

As the years go by, give me but peace,
freedom from the ten thousand ensnarements.
I ask myself and always answer:
What can be better than coming home?
A wind from the pine-trees blows my sash,
And my lute is bright with the mountain moon.
You ask me about good and evil fortune? ...
Hark, on the lake there’s a fisherman singing.
